Hi, I am a 12th grade student preparing for engineering entrance exams. I don't have any idea regarding the branch that I should choose.

The market of skill is also about demand and supply. Identifying the best institute is as important as choosing the correct specializations. You could find a branch in which you can excel more due to passion and natural inclination. Engineering branches can be categorized into - (1) branches with broad prospects (2) branches with niche prospects ( 1) branches with broad prospects - civil, mechanical and electronics branches come under this category. These branches are one of the oldest and most popular. Demand in this type of engineering branch is very high and are consider evergreen. Competition is high but job opportunities are also high. Top 5 branches under this category are civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical (2) branches with niche prospect - these are branches which have prospect. Competition in this segment is low but job opportunities are also low. Pay scale is high. Aeronautical engineering, marine engineering, textile engineering. Competition to get into top colleges for this category of stream is also low. The college from where you get your engineering is more significant than branch. If you have done industrial engineering from NITIE Mumbai you would have better career. If you love number than civil and CSE branch could be a better choice. I suggest you to choice top demanding engineering branches like civil, mechanical, CSE etc. Best wishes.

Hello Sradha PM, I can tell you with confidence that what is in your mind is absolutely normal for a student of your age. There is still plenty of time for you to understand the intricacies of different branches. You should keep reading whatever you can about the different branches of engineering so that you can get and overall Idea as to what each branch looks like. But let me tell you at this moment that all the branches for almost same as far as the placements for the future career is concerned. Just remember that there is always room at the top. At this juncture in your life I would like to sincerely advise you to concentrate on learning different subjects that are being taught to you rather than bothering about these things at the moment.
