I am getting an average IIM. Should I go ahead with admission or is it worth to reappear for chances of getting into other top B-Schools?

MBA is like an open door for all the specialisations. You can learn basic knowledge from everything. You can either learn HR, marketing or finance. Instead of just taking up a certain stream right from the first semester itself and basically job opportunities are equivalent for everyone. Be it general MBA or normal MBA there are many colleges available for MBA. For e.g. PUMBA, Pune. Its cutoff is above 98 %ile and is generally considered to be the most sought after institute after JBIMS, Mumbai and Symbosis. It has the best placement record in terms of marketing and finance. For HR specialization we have SCMHRD, Hinjewadi.

IIMs are one of the premier institutions in India. It has got huge brand name attached to it. First of all, you need to decide what average is for you. Whether that average stands for infrastructure, faculty, placements etc. The brand name attached to it gives it a great advantage, but reappearing totally depends upon your caliber and determination. If you have that will, and can give another year of preparation for the exam, then surely go ahead with it. From the other side, if you get into average IIM, you could leverage that brand and add on your skills by doing parallel short courses and look for co- curricular participation. It also depends whether you are employed or not. The employed ones can take their try again next year but in case of student he has to explain the gap in his studies in case of giving attempt next year.

I’d suggest you to join any Indian Institute of management whether it’s an average or above average. Indian Institute of Management is a dream destination for students. Some of the best IIM campuses are as follows: -Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode -Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta -Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad -Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore -Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow All other IIMs are average. The brand name IIM is very helpful for students who purse MBA from the campuses. The experts who teach in these campuses are from direct industry. The advantages of studying in IIMs are as follows: 1. High placement package. 2. Quality infrastructure 3. Additional certification 4. Live case study based education So I’d suggest you to take MBA in any IIM.

Congratulations on getting admission in IIM. According to me you should first decide what is average for you i.e. placement, faculty, infrastructure or any other thing. If you are getting admission in any of the IIMs then you must take that chance because as we all know that every year the competition is increasing as well as changes are repeatedly going on every year.

A tag of IIM is what which cannot be overlooked if you are getting a really good business school, then go for it or else stick to IIM.

You can go with established B-Schools performing well. I could not make it to the top IIMs because of my graduation percentage of 80%.

Congratulations for getting admission in IIM. IIM is the top most body in business schools. If you are not happy with this college, you can also apply for JBIM, Symbiosis, SYNDENHAM, and PUMBA.

Hello, First of all, congratulations for making it to IIM and about the question it totally depends on your capabilities if you think you can do it then go for it. Please keep a note that your preparation should be of that quality that it results into higher score means more practice and more effort, otherwise, you'll lose your one year. Hi If you have got in any IIM then you must go for it, as you must not leave any chance. But, if you are confident enough, that next year you can get in any top IIM like IIM Ahemdabad, It would be better enough not to take risk and an average rated IIM is also not bad. So you must go for it and study hard to make no stone unturned and achieve a high success. Normally, students don't even get an average IIM for studying. But it’s with your hard work that you got IIM. So don’t loose your confidence and go for it. If you are really determined, that next year you could get better IIMs then you can drop one year else don't. Be an opportunist and grab the opportunity. Nowadays, all IIMs are improving a lot. The average IIMs are also improving in all aspects. So, you can go for the admission in IIM. Don’t worry you will surely achieve success. All the best for future.

Hi, Your decision should totally depend on which IIM you have been admitted to. Though IIMs are top premier MBA colleges, not all the IIMs are of the same ranking. It’s mostly top 3 or 4 IIMs which are good such as IIMA, IIMB, IIMC and IIMK. If the admissions aren't over in the other institutes, I would suggest that you try your best in other similarly good institutions as well or if you really want to try for a better IIM maybe you can try next year. It is totally up to you. However, I would also suggest you to review the IIM that you have got admission to very well before you take a decision. It should not so happen that you would regret the decision of giving up or taking an admission in the college.
