If you are interested in finance and accounting, and have a strong aptitude for numbers, then CA could be a good choice for you. CA is a professional course that trains you in accounting, auditing, taxation, and financial management. It is a highly respected qualification in the business world and can open up opportunities in various sectors such as finance, accounting, taxation, audit, and consulting. On the other hand, if you are interested in management and want to develop your leadership and business skills, then an MBA could be a good option for you. MBA is a post-graduate degree that provides you with a broad-based education in b...more

Hi. Nilay. Your aptitude and area of interest will determine this. A career as a CA can be quite rewarding if you enjoy accounting and can imagine yourself performing audits of businesses. Many people pursue both an MBA in finance and a CA. MBA/PGDM makes sense but only if you appreciate management and want to pursue a certain specialisation like marketing, human resources, etc. MBA/PGDM from a reputable university or college like GIBS Bangalore with strong placements makes sense.

Dear Nilay,
Its totally depends upon your area of interest.CA opens doors to private practice, corporate jobs in accounting and finance and consulting while MBA opens the doors to large number of functions and fields in corporate jobs as per the specialisation done. CA is offered only by ICAI while MBA is offered by about 1000 colleges in India. CA is far tougher to clear as he passing percentage is less than 5%
You must choose MBA, only from universities of high repute like Iims, SPJMER, FMS Delhi, Great lakes Chennai, SIBM, IBS, ISB Hyderabad, UBS Chandigarh and LPU Punjab. Both have their own pros and cons.

Both MBA and CA are good options for career boost up in the commerce line. An MBA is a post-graduation course that you can do only if you have passed your graduation. CA on the other hand is a professional degree course that can be applied for after the twelfth standard or after graduation. The overall money invested in a CA certification is less as compared to an MBA degree. Out of 100, only 3-5% of candidates are able to qualify and get certified as CA. 90-95% of candidates who opt for an MBA course end up getting good jobs. As per my experience, I would like to advise you that MBA at LPU offers an optimum blend of theory and practic...more

Dear Nilay.
As per my experience, I would recommend the MBA programme after BCom for better career prospects.
Being alumni of LPU, I highly recommend LPU for an MBA degree based on the following things-
The Business School of LPU is accredited by ACBSP, Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs from the USA ensuring quality education and industry-experienced faculty members, studying in LPU will get a degree accredited from a body of USA. LPU is ranked No. 2 among Indian B-Schools in 'Outreach and Inclusivity by NIRF ranking released by MHRD, Government of India.
Placement: Every year more than 550+ companies visit LPU for pl...more -
MBA in Finance, being a postgraduate degree in management has a very wide scope. Graduates can find jobs in some of the top private companies of their respective fields as well as in banking and accounting firms in India. CA can be pursued by a student who has just completed Class 12th, graduation or postgraduate. So, in my opinion choosing to do MBA with specialisation is a better choice, rest it depends on your interest for which field you want to go for. Joining LPU will open a door of lots of opportunities for you in terms of industrial exposure, internships, placements, workshops etc. LPU is one of the best private universities in...more

Since you are about to complete class 12th you are only eligible for the CA course. For applying for the MBA course you will have to first complete graduation. On completing CA you will find opportunities mainly in the auditing and taxation area. So apply for the course if it interests you. If you are interested in administrative role then apply for MBA entrance exams during the final year graduation.
