Well, CAT is mandatory to take admission in all the IIMs and also some renowned B-schools prefer CAT score. But if you want to go for MBA from any other B-school apart from that then you can attend any other national/state level or university level entrance exam.

Either CAT/MAT/CMAT is considered so give all of them. Also, a good percentage is needed. GDPI performance is a key factor in the best Schools.

Amay, there is no such compulsion that you have to clear CAT for admission to MBA. There are other tests also likev XAT, MAT, GMAT, etc.
CAT is the most acceptable exam for admission to MBA.
But there are certain universities like LPU, NMIMS, Symbosis, etc that conduct LPUNEST, NMAT, SNAP, etc for admission in MBA.
Apart from quality education and good placements LPU also offers good scholarships to students.
You can contact the university of your choice for more details.
    Good luck.

No, CAT is mostly accepted and mandatory only for IIM, FMS and Pondicherry University and accepted mostly in many institutes. If you want to pursue MBA from NMIMS, then NMAT is there if you want to pursue it from Symbiosis, SNAP is there. If you want to do it from TISS then they have their own tests, states have their own CET and ultimately, appearing for an entrance exam is mandatory whatever institute it is.

If you want to enter into IIMs then Yes. And it is accepted by most of other B-schools in India. Some institutes have their own entrance tests as mentioned in other answer below. If you are planning for MBA abroad GMAT score is needed.
It is not necessary, but you should prefer giving CAT and giving yourself a chance to get admission into the best MBA colleges. :)
    Good Luck!

If you really want to pursue a full-time MBA from a reputed B-School, CAT examination is mandatory. Actually, it filters out the candidates who have an aptitude for pursuing management. SPJIMR, all three scores are accepted CAT GMAT and XAT. XAT is a separate exam conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur).

There are many different Entrance exams for taking admission in MBA.

No, but better to give CAT examination, because MBA from any IIM is a miracle in itself. You can also do MBA from any other private colleges without CAT but all good private colleges consider your performance in CAT. So, I will suggest you give CAT examination. To pursue MBA abroad, you need to take GMAT.
