Is it allowed to go back home on weekends? Is it allowed to travel in the middle of the week, in case of any emergency? I am from Mumbai.

It is allowed but we have attendence criterion here due to which it becomes very difficult and infact have least possiblity that you can do so. Maximum you can visit 3rice in a year approximately. -
If there isn't much work/ no guest lectures on weekends then you can travel on weekends. I normally take a duronto on Friday and come back on Monday morning. 80% attendence is needed I.e. out of 20 lectures, you can take 4 lectures leave due to sickness, emergency, etc. All the best!
