Is it compulsory to pursue a course to get selected as a cabin crew or can I directly go for an interview?

No, simply no. You do not require any training to get hired as a cabin crew, all your training is conducted by the airline itself.
Each airline has its own SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) wherein certain compulsory procedures are same in all the airlines whereas the supplementary procedures vary drastically.
Most of the Institutes which provide training for cabin crew do not have enough infrastructure to conduct the training in a realistic environment.
DGR (Dangerous Goods), AVSEC (Aviation Security), Evacuation, etc., are some of the basic and most important training which only an airline can conduct in a realistic manner. As it r...more -

Earlier, the airlines did not have their own training facilities and there was a need for the candidate to apply for a job only after completing a cabin crew resource training programme. But with the rise of new airlines and their limitless expansions, most of the airlines have come up with their own training centers as it is easier that way to train the aspirants as per their standard operating procedures.

As per my experience, I completed 10+2, and directly went to the walk in interview for the airline.
There were many options for Training academy who train you for interview preparation and personality development.
It completely depends upon you. If you know that you are lacking in certain area, you can always opt for such training which will cost 50,000 INR minimum for the entire course.
