Is it wise to switch branch from B.Tech mechanical to mining? I have done Diploma in mechanical engineering after 10th from CBSE board.

It's not a good idea considering the wide range of opportunities in mechanical engineering. You can work in many fields like thermal, fluid mechanics, automobile, design if you stick with the mechanical branch. -
Mining is very niche branch of engineering with limited opportunities in comparison to mechanical engineering. Mechanical engineers can be employed in all type of industries including services.
