Is LPU a good option for civil engineering?

Dear Umer, Being alumni of LPU. I can assure you that LPU is the best private university for any engineering programme. My cousin completed his B.Tech in Civil at LPU itself. The following are the highlights of Civil engineering in LPU: - 1. Most of the faculty staff are from reputed organizations with their the highest degree from various reputed institutes such as IITs, NITs, etc. Apart from that, faculty have got previous industrial experience also. 2. The capstone project is an integral part of B.Tech programme in which students have to pick a live project based on the practical problem-based scenario (ideally from industry) and work for six months under a mentor and present a report at the end. This is beneficial to enhance your presentation skills. 3. There is an internship programme which could be an opportunity for getting work experience and increase your chance to get employment after you pass out. But, of course, your academic record should be good to get this placement option. 4. Industrial visits are organized to nearby construction sites from time to time. There, you can SEE actual construction work going on. Be prepared to have dust on your shoes (believe me, it will be worth a lot). You have to ask questions yourself and trigger interest in the activities around you. 5. You will get some courses from soft skills, English language, mental and analytical aptitude side. This sounds dull to you as of now. But you will feel its importance when you face an interview panel in a company during your placement drives. 6. They have very good placement records and good infrastructure companies visit their campus, L & T, Simplex Piles Ltd, Era Infrastructure, Gammon India Ltd to name a few. 7. Career oriented Software training in project labs is given. To work in this profession, you are supposed to be familiar with software like MS-Project, STAAD Pro, MX Road, etc. None the less, you will be trained in Auto CAD in your second year which is prerequisite for any Civil Engineer. 8. Every theory course is complemented with relevant lab-based practical work. Some of the labs are based on field testing where experimental work is to be done, e. g. Soil Lab & Surveying Lab. Civil engineering is a programme that teaches us how to construct infrastructure and create an environment which will be conducive for living in the modern. So surely for this a student must require a practice knowledge. It is an Engineering programme which articulates the applications of theoretical concepts through lab practice and projects to enhnace the knowledge and skills, keeping in mind, the industry requirements in areas like Structural, Environmental & Highway Engineering, Construction Management etc. So in order to provide good facilities and better scope LPU teaches students by performing practical as well. They assign you different project which will be beneficial from your placement point of view. While when you are in developing your project proper facilities of labs are also provided where you can go even at night also. Talking about Civil Engineering placement, it was well and good. Last year more than 85% students were placed. You will get a chance to work on Capstone project as well. Most of the big MNCs recruit students from LPU.

According to the recent NIRF ranking 2021 LPU is ranked 62nd among all government and Private universities in India. LPU Engineering school has been ranked 66th among the top Engineering Universities and colleges of India.
