I had the same question when I was looking out for college for my B.Tech I was confused between Delhi Technological University, Delhi, and Lovely Professional University Phagwara. But after discussions, thinking, and recommendations from my relatives ( Allummni of LPU) I joined LPU. It was actually a great decision. As per my experience, LPU is the best place for engineering. I have not faced any kind of disappointment at any phase. LPU provides the beautiful infrastructure and all required resources to students and staff. I was also in this dilemma while choosing a university. Now, I am an alumni of LPU and I am very satisfied with my decision. It is true that LPU is a great university to pursue mechanical engineering. Yes, LPU is a great place to pursue any kind of engineering and mechanical engineering is one of the core engineering disciplines after all.
