The University of Westminster is a public university in London, United Kingdom. The University of Westminster was started 180 years ago in 1838 as the first Polytechnic in London and one of the first in the United Kingdom. It was established to educate the working people of London. Even today the university continues to build on its reputation and help students from a variety of backgrounds to realize their full potential. The university welcomes hundreds of students from more than 169 different nationalities. The Polytechnic formally received a Royal charter and became the University of Westminster in 1992.
