Students, nowadays, seem to be in a hurry to start making money as early as possible. This urge for an early career start makes them opt for diploma engineering courses after schooling. After gaining work experience they tend to pursue lateral B.Tech to ensure faster promotions and avoid stagnancy i... View More
Diploma students join the B.Tech through lateral entry and they are having the practical hand for the last three years compared to regular student who only have one year of practical knowledge. During B.Tech much stress is given on theory rather than practical's, but in diploma both have equal scaling .So in term of practical knowledge diploma students are superior than regular one. after lateral entry one having B.Tech increases the potential and adds a degree more.

Good Evening to all of you . I have just completed my diploma in computer science and engineerning. And now its getting very hard for me to get admission in good colleges.Lateral entry in B.tech are given in very few colleges in India and if We are giving JEE entrance then we have to join in First year i.e means 1 year loss plus its very hard for diploama students to get good marks in JEE Entrance. I thinks thats why most of the diploma students go for job. There should be Lateral entry in most of the colleges then diploma students will look for further studies.

B.Tech after 12 is good time wise. But Direct 2nd year admis. is very good. Becoz of high mind, experience nd knowledge. You will be more experienced then regular 2nd year students. However it doesn't ensures a good package. But chances will be more.

In my opinion, regular BE, BTech is more appropriate option than lateral btech beause in 11th ,and 12th the student enhances his knowlege in many feilds specially mathematics, i have personally witness many of the cases where the students of Lateral admission, can not solve even basic problems of mathematics like matrix, integration etc which is used in almost every feild. and this definately harm them in future.

In good economies like germany 65% of the education budget is earmarked for vocational training. I visited one of the factories in germany where the chief engineer was working on a machine wearing an overall. in india everyone wants a white collar baboo job not working on a machine. this has led to the present state of affairs where as per some reports about 20% of the engineers we produce are unemployable. the situation in north indian states must be worse because of lack of industry and consequent absence of industry institute interaction. in good economies there is not as much difference in salaries of machine workers, the superviso

In india In private institutions salary of the principal can be twenty times the salary of the lecturer. there we have dignity of labour. In india we cannot have dignity of labour. most diploma holders want to pass a degree by lateral entry because they think this will serve two purposes: keep them off the field and secondly the white collar job will give a better salary.

I think its the opposite of what you said Mr.Er. Shamsul Husain. I think that B.tech is difficult for the 12th students instead of the diploma students. Why? Because diploma students know more of that specified discipline. They know the basics of that discipline. They even get good placements after they finish their degree.

The issue has three facets. Frankly speaking I am not in favour of lateral entry. In good economies like Germany of all the budget for education, 65% is allocated to vocational training producing real engineers. Indian engineering educations system produces technical babus who have little employability. This is mainly on account of the fact that private engineering institutes ignore practical because it costs. In the first instance the laboratories are not equipped as they should be and then the faculty/lab technicians are not there in requisite number and not competent enough to carry out the practicals.Thirdly the 'owners' discourag

Lastly the AICTE teams visiting for inspection may not be involved enough to carry out the HONEST inspection. One more reason not in favour of lateral entry is that these students are not SERIOUS. They are continuing studies because many of them after spending some time in industry and apparently failing there, opt to continue studies because they can not find the job to their taste. Another reason is that in some of the states the curriculum for diploma does not favour continuity in curriculum for engineering degree. I have not heard of or seen any passout from INDO swiss or CTR opting for lateral entry because their talent is useful in industry the world over. paneser ks

B.Tech is the not criteria to define the working profession. On job, there may be ITI'ian,Diploma holder or Degree holder. Actually some companies or their Governing body has defined the critera for the designation as degree holder with some profile. It may different from shopfloor. So as per interest any once choose the criteria to be an degree holder. Otherwise a ITI man can be a good professional with experience along with handsome salary package than a diploma/degree holder of a PSU. So defining the B.tech as a job tendency is not suitable as per my point of view.

i think LE gives the chance to be more focused on the subject coz afterall the student need to work on the field of specification rather than the all subjects.

As per my opinion regular Btech is considered as more valuable then the diploma courses. because currently MNCs are considering the regular education rather then distance/part time. Basically for getting the job in MNCs anyone should be having minimum 16 years of education which is not in case of diploma. Also part time degree will add advantage if you have one basic good degree.

In mechanical field practical knowledge stands like a pillar apart from theoretical. If a person has the practical knowledge he/she definitely has theoretical knowledge.Civil engineering provide good plan for the building but the person doing the work has more practical thing.

no doubt a diploma has more practical knowledge than a regular degree holder still his theoretical knowledge is less than a degree holder.Further, inspite off having more practical knowledge if a diploma holder is a subordinate of a degree holder. Most importantly if a person has a gap of one year or more,it is really difficult for him to go for degree program under lateral entry scheme as it requires sound basic knowledge of +2 level which is lost once their is a gap of one year or more.It becomes difficult to clear papers and the person struggles to get the degree. So i believe that rather than going for a diploma, one should complete h

Students who do their b.tech through Lateral Entry are good at practical knowledge compared to the regular b.tech guys.and in industry practical knowledge matters the most.so doing b.tech through L.E is not a bad option at all.

The laterals has the more practical knowledge than the regular engineering students.About cons is that further qualification is need to get in the higher position.

both have there own advantages. and gaining work experience and then going for further studies gives lot of advantage. in fact it even add better impact for resume too.!!
