Given, small mass, m1 = 8 kg. bigger mass, m2 = 12 kg
Let T be the tension in the string
The heavier mass will go downward and the lighter mass will go upward.
Applying Newton's 2nd law,
For mass m1, T –m1g = m1a …… (1)
For mass m2, m2g – T = m2a……. (2)
Adding (1) & (2), we get
(m2 - m1) g = (m1 + m2) a
a = (m2 - m1) g/ (m1 + m2) = 4 = 2 m/s
From equation (1), we get, T = 8 (2 +10) = 96 N

= 0.92 * 1260 = 1161 m/s
For 2 kg block
T – 2g sin37 = 2a . (i)
For 4 kg block
4g – 2T =
2g – T = a . (ii)
T = (2g – a)
2g – a – 2g × = 2a
3a = 2g ×
8m1 – 8m2 = m1 + m2
7m1 = 9m2
