From your detailed question it appears that you are wanting to be in the Education line in the Govt. sector. or the teaching line (school teaching) it is essntial that you do B.Ed. If you want to teach in college then post graduation followed by clearing the UGC NET exam or its equivalent at the state level is essential. I suggest that yo u do B.Ed. as of now.

It should not be a question of whether Petroleum engg would become better than Mech engineering. Such things actually do not take place and is only in the minds of the candidates.
