First of all see hw is ur college if it is good then no need to do preparation and if it is not satisfactory then u can take a chance. But it is difficult to see ur college as well as the IIT JEE. You can't travel in two boat, as u have once prepared for IIT JEE so u know that it is not a piece of cake.
Other thing is that in life as u will grow u will get more chances, if not IIT after 12th then after engg. u can appear for PSU exams, IAS, IES and many more as Engg. is equivalent to graduation so u can give all the exams which a graduate can give. So you have lots of option and opportunity.
