Maharashtra is among the few states, which does not conduct any entrance examination for giving admission directly into second year of engineering colleges by what is called as the lateral mode of admission. However, the selection of candidates is based on the marks obtained by them in either the Diploma examination conducted by the government of Maharashtra or the B.Sc examination conducted by different universities. You will have to apply online seeking admission for lateral mode on the website of directorate of Technical Education Maharashtra. Presently, this is not available as there is still some time left for the declaration of results of the Diploma students.

This is not necessary to write NCHMCT-JEE exam for Diploma courses. The five diploma courses as Diploma in food production, Food & Beverage Service, Bakery & Confectionery, Front Office Operation and Housekeeping Operation are the core areas of food and beverage operations. It is open to 12th pass students of +2 system who must have studied English language as one of the subjects. The Course duration is for 36 weeks followed by 24 weeks of Industrial Training.
Admission Process: - Applications are invited by individual affiliated Institute of Hotel Management through advertisement in leading local newspapers released during the month of June each year and selection made through a transparent selection process.
Each Diploma program equips students in the basic areas of specialization and institutes provide hands on training to students in the institute kitchens and laboratories.

You have a decent profile and fair chances of conversion, as Dalmia invite every applicant for GD/PI so you will definitely get a call from college but your selection doesn't not only depends on your score but also depends also on your performance in GD PI as well. Selection will be based purely on merit, which will be evaluated out of 100 marks as below:
1. Entrance test score i.e., CAT or XAT or CMAT or MH-CET or MAT or ATMA Score (We will convert your percentile to our grading scale as per our admission criteria) 40 marks
2. Personal Interview 20 marks
3. Group Discussion 15 marks
4. Past Academic Record (10th,12th and graduation) 15 marks
5. Work Experience 5 marks
6. Extra- curricular activities (Sports or Cultural)- (At District/State/National level) 5 marks
Total 100 marks.

Hello Vicky, It is a very nice to hear from you that after completion of your Diploma in 2017 now you are thinking of doing your graduation in Engineering by distance mode. There are plenty of universities which are offering graduation in distance mode. AICTE, the controlling body for engineering, has announced on their website different criteria for institutions who can get their courses authorised.
