Geo Science is not a much known but a promising branch provided you know how to go for higher studies and job. After completing your Bachelors, you may go for IITJAM for M.Tech/ M.Sc in IT and Dehradun itself has a geology institute where you may look for internships too.

You have two options in front of you : (a) Continue with your engineering degree and live with a profession whole life, in which you are not interested. If you continue then chances are that you will struggle whole life. (b) Change into a stream in which you have interest. You will waste two years but not waste your entire life. I will recommend option B but this decision must be taken with your family's approval.

A person usually pursue MBA to have better career options. A specialisation has to be picked keeping in mind ones interest area and inherent personality traits. If a person does MBA in any other specialisation then he may not enjoy the profession that he picks up as a career. Many a time this leads to a situation wherein the person reviews the career options at a later date. My advice to you is that keeping in mind your interest areas and personality type pursue a specialization.

If you want to become a district collector then you are advised to appear for Civil Services and aim for IAS cadre. You can become collector through MPSC examination once after few years experience ou move up the ladder from PSC officer to IAS. It is very long path.
