For international students whose native language is not English, an English language test score is needed. For instance, if you're taking the TOEFL, you need to get a minimum score of 79 unless you've already finished four full semesters of study within four years of the application date and have kept a minimum GPA of B at a college or university in the United States or another nation where English is the official language.

SAT or ACT scores are optional, although you may choose to submit them to enhance your chances of getting in.

The University of Albany does not have a strict SAT requirement, but they definitely like to see a score of at least 1100 to be considered. You are not needed to submit English proficiency test results, if you attended or are currently attending high school in the United States or if English is your first language, but you may do so if you want to boost your application.

International students can apply for admission to the university at Albany-SUNY using either the State University of New York (SUNY) Application or the Common Application. If one applies after May 1, they must use the SUNY Application. All first-year (freshmen) applicants must also complete the 250- to 500-word essay component of either the Common Application or the SUNY Supplemental Application. One must also complete an Intensive English Language Program (IELP) application. All applicants must arrange for their official school and/or college transcripts to be sent to them. First-year applicants must submit an official transcript from their secondary school for admissions purposes.
