Hi Prachi, B.FTech I. e. Bachelor of fashion technology is an undergraduate fashion designing course. Its duration is 4-years. Eligibility is 10+2 or equivalent. It focuses on advanced garment construction, tailoring, fitting, formal wear techniques and many more. The course covers creative and technical aspects of pattern making, construction, design, colour and textiles, and fashion history and business. The degree is helpful in working areas of clothing, ready-to-wear, costume design, strategy, and designing. After completing the course, one has an option of self-employment as an entrepreneur or of setting up their own design studios and workshops. They also have the option of going for higher degrees. They can also become an illustrator; who draws free hand sketches of designer's ideas. So, yes, it is equivalent to fashion designing. All the best.

Now Pondicherry University MBA & MBA-IB is going for IIM CAT. Admission will be based on your CAT score from 2019 admission onwards.
Apply for IIM CAT before September 19, 2018. Appear for CAT scheduled in November 2018. Download your results and CAT score card. Look out for admission notification to be posted on Pondicherry University website http://www.pondiuni.edu.in/ by mid-January 2019.
Apply online for MBA program of Department of International Business or General MBA of Department of Management Studies as per instructions.
They will shortlist eligible applicants based on CAT scores.
The selection process will consist of Group Discussions and Personal Interview in the third week of March 2019.

There is a role for the marks of 11th and 12th or rather 12th. This is so since all engineering colleges prescribe certain minimum marks to be obtained in 12th before you are granted admission in those Institutions. In a peculiar situation if you have scored say only 40% marks in 12 but is within top 100 in an entrance exam you may not get admission. For getting admission in IITs, the minimum marks prescribed for 12th or equivalent is 75%. In addition to this presently in the state of Tamil Nadu the whole admission process is based on the marks obtained in 12th and entrance exam has been discarded in that state since last year. You have indeed asked a very interesting but important query about this process. Yes normally speaking GATE is an exam that is compulsory before you can get admission in post graduate studies in engineering colleges. However some colleges offer what is called as dual degree. In this type of admission the college is assuring you that they will give you admission in the post graduate course after completion of your graduation and you need not run around or search for any entrance exam to be given. This helps at two levels.
Firstly it helps the student to avoid anxiety and giving exam like GSTE for getting admission in a postgraduate course. On the other level it helps the college in getting a captive student who will be continuing his studies for post-graduation level. So to me this appears to be a Win-Win situation for both. In nutshell do not worry if the college is offering you dual degree of B.Tech and M.Tech. You can get admission for B.Tech and if you keep on passing you will come out as M.Tech only.
