different weightage is given to different parameters for final selection. here it is- The final selection for regular round of PGDM and PGDM-HCM will be made on the basis of objective assessment (40% weightage), the candidate's past academic performance (15% weightage), work experience, if any (10% weightage), performance in face to face evaluation process (30 % weightage) and composite diversity index (5% weightage). This is Subject to obtaining a desired proficiency in written communication and a minimum score for each evaluation component, except work experience. The objective assessment shall be based on XAT, CAT or CMAT score.

There are basically 4 sections in MBA entrance exam - Verbal Ability, DILR, Quants and GK-
Verbal Ability:
Start reading a newspaper daily to increase your reading speed and grasping power. Don't miss out the editorial page. Do a proper analysis of articles on the editorial page. Try to make a summary of articles that you read para by para. But reading a newspaper won't be sufficient. Start solving RCs on a regular basis with proper analysis.
DILR
This is one of the toughest section, especially from previous 2-3 years. Not only it is tough but it also checks how quick your senses are and how good you are in selecting the sets. So the best thing to score in LR-DI is to practice more questions on a daily basis so you understand which sets you should leave and before attempting the sets what are the things you should look for. I would suggest this book 'Puzzles by George J Summers'.
Quants
This section is one of the most scoring section for student and you too should try to get maximum marks in this section. It has a proper syllabus and you need to practice each and every chapter. The major topics are- Geometry, Arithmetic, Algebra, Number System and Modern Math. It is basically the math that you have studied till the tenth standard. However, having said that, the questions are not really easy. Focus more on Arithmetic and Algebra as these two are the most important topics.
GK
Read newspaper daily for current affairs and go for Lucent for static GK.

PGDM is Post Graduate Diploma in Management while MMS is Master in Management. MMS is a specialization in Marketing. All Universities under the UGC format can give a Management Degree. MMS falls under this category. Management Institutes are outside the purview of UGC. They can therefore offer diplomas or PGDM i.e. Post Graduate Diploma in Management. MMS is two or three year specialization program in Marketing. While PGDM is one or two years program.
In PGDM you can take core marketing, core finance or dual course like Marketing- HR, Finance Marketing and many others. However, most of these PG programs are approved by regulatory bodies such as AICTE. MMS focus more on theoretical aspects of management and is more exam-oriented while PGDM has a focus on building soft skills and is industry- oriented like they can offer program in Retail, E-MBA, Capital Markets.
In compared to PGDM, generally MMS is more affordable as the fee are almost similar to university standard. If we compared the fees of IIM and JBIMS the difference is almost 5:1. If not more, for the colleges which are offering MMS and PG courses the difference in the fees is almost 3:1.
The most important thing for students planning to pursue is placements and thankfully there is no difference from the companies' point of view. However, one should remember that is not important whether a student pursues PGDM or MMS. The most important things is the brand name of the college rather than the course offered.
