You should have good knowledge of concepts and it is necessary to have almost all formulae in PCM on your fingertips. Solve as many problems as you can to improve your speed and accuracy. Previous year papers and model papers will be of immense help in giving the idea of how the questions are asked.
The IIT coaching centres are plenty these days so we cannot judge any coaching centre as we don't have any idea about their preparation method.
We can just see the students passing out from there and their ranks. And it also varies every year as it depends more on the student than the classes.
