This article, which has advice for students who plan to do a degree in engineering, has been posted here on PuneTech, partially in response to some of the comments were getting for this PuneTech article, and also partially because I'm sure most PuneTech readers GET asked this question by relatives and friends, and I'm hoping that at least some of the advice here will be helpful.
If you've just finished your 12th standard, and are interested in getting an Engineering degree, which college, and which branch of engineering to choose can seem like the most difficult, and at the same time, the most important decision of your life. People have been asking me this question for almost 20 years now, and based on my varied experience, here is the advice that I give to prospective engineers.

New Horizon college of Engineering recognises the importance of practical exposure of students in the various industries. Hence, we arrange paid internship opportunities for the UG and PG students in different multinational companies. These companies pay students anything between 10,000/- to 35,000/- PM and they are provided options to work in different verticals such as planning, market research, software application development, software testing, pre-sales, document preparation activities etc.,
Internships are arranged for interested talented students in the final year for BE, M.Tech, MCA and MBA students. The duration of these internships could be anywhere between 4 months to one year. Most of these companies also absorb the interns at the end of the internship period. Some of the prominent companies who have provided internships in the recent past are: VMware, Nokia Communications, Societe Generale, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, Wipro Technologies, GE Technologies etc.
