American universities do not award or recognize the MBBS.

Hello Derek, in order to get a students visa to NZ, you need to provide evidence of funds to pay your tution fees and living expenses in NZ. Before the student's visa is issued, Immigration NZ (INZ) will request the student to pay 1 year's fees to the college and provide evidence of the same. Students now also have to option of transferring their living expenses to NZ under the new FTS scheme -this reduces a lot of hassesls and paper work both for the students and INZ.
Most courses allow students 20 hrs a week of PT work. However, you should NOT bank on the income that you MAY earn in NZ to pay for your living expenses.
