If you are Degree holder, you can do MBA even which degree you did. It's not the point. If you did BBA then go for MBA and vice versa.

You can join directly after B.Tech.
If you pursue B.Sc (Nautical Science) in the officer cadre, it will lead you to become the captain after 5-7 years of experience.
Except for marine engineering candidates, others have to undergo 10 months pre-sea training which is offered by many institutes and port trusts or recruiting company itself. After that, you will be appointed as a 5th or junior engineer. It will take 5-7 years depending on your abilities to become a 'chief engineer'.

I can't comment on other institute but can tell you about our's.
PGDM course here in IBA is approved by AICTE ministry of HRD and is also internationally accredited course.
Faculty here is also extremely good and holds at least 8-10 yrs. of experience .
Average package is around 5.75 lakhs (for14-16 Batch).

Talk to alumni or students of both the colleges, and even try to visit both the campuses and then select the college.
