Yes, it is a good career option because it is growing. This field is in its saturation period since no new companies came to India in this field and not enough investments are made in home grown and except government organisation's None of the private companies are not really doing any scopeful Aerospace related jobs here, to employ you. Remember they all just manufacturing units. I have witnessed my friends (toppers to under performers) joined in airlines crews and ground station crews posts for which you don't need to study this hectic Engineering, just good English and appealing personality is enough. And some of them went for Masters to other countries and they were happy and blessed I thought, but now I started to hear that half of them came back, because they could't find job within their visa period and could't find visa sponsors. If you are very talented and enough back pack of cash to sustain in western countries I would say you to give a try.

In case you don't get your desired college, don't settle for something mediocre college. Instead of settling down for some mediocre college, it would be better if you try for some good private university. Many reputed private universities are offering B.Tech CSE. They have their different criteria for admissions. Some offer admission on basis of JEE scores, some offer admission on basis of their own tests and some offer admission on the basis of both. Some even offer direct admission on basis of class 12 marks. Some of the universities also offer scholarships on basis of your performance in class 12 or JEE or even during the course. You can check the details of any of the reputed universities like VIT, Lovely, SRM, etc. All these universities have a wonderful infrastructure and world-class facilities to offer to students apart from good placements.
