Hi there,
GATE is an exam which can obviously clear with self-study only as you are already at college level must be fully matured, also all the subjects are related to 4 years of your engineering so the only self-study will work, also be attentive during your regular classes in engineering it will help you a lot. Your choice should depend on your interest areas and personality traits. Marketing or HR both need a separate aptitude. From a career perspective both have good growth opportunities. A persons chances of doing well in career depends a lot on his/her pursuing a career/ one's interest areas.

To be very clear, your NATA score is not that good. To calculate the overall Score: 50% of the NATA score + 50% of class 12th percentage will be taken into consideration. Hence, you can get admission in a good college. Try and apply in your desired college.
