Frankly speaking, the toughest branch of engineering is the one that you choose based on market trends and others' suggestions, but you yourself lack the interest in it.
Engineering isn't a theoretical subject. If you're unable to connect with it and understand its implementation in the practical world, it will be tough for you and won't turn out to be fruitful.
So, go for a branch of engineering which you're interested in. It will help you gain more knowledge and will reflect better on your mark sheets as well. Engineering is a 4 year course. It takes just 6 months for market conditions to change. So, choosing a branch just because of the present market trends isn't wise.

Don't get too fascinated with "ethical hacker" as they show in movies. Hackers mean "thieves". No company would hire a thief to steal other company's data as that could land them in serious legal trouble. Further, hacking requires a deep knowledge of computer programming and the functioning of computer and networks which is covered in engineering syllabus.
What I would rather recommend you is go for security specialist professionals. These jobs are highly payable and in high demand as most companies need them to protect their own data.
For the same, you can go to some reputed computer training institutes like NIIT etc. You can go for Java courses (all modules) followed by networking and CCNA/CCNB (CISCO) courses. You can also pursue a CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) course too if you wish.
