UGC NET is conducted twice in a year in the month of June and December. The basic eligibility to appear in this exam is, an aspirant should have completed their Masters' or is in the final year of their Post-Graduation. As you are from the Statistics background, you can choose any of the subjects either UGC NET Commerce or CSIR NET in Mathematical Science. But being from this background, you should go for CSIR NET in Mathematical Science rather than UGC NET. Here's the criteria of who can apply and how.
Eligibility: candidates should pass B.Sc Maths or basic Maths and computer applications or any other degree of any university as equivalent.
Minimum 60% is desirable for admission. Admission is generally on the basis of Mark's and entrance test specific for certain universities. All the best.
