Yes, it is beneficial to pursue Diploma first, rather than going for class 11th and class 12th. As per my knowledge, when you will enter engineering after completion of your Diploma, you will have better idea what you are doing in your field. Whereas, if you go for class 12th, then you will completely fresher where you will not have any idea about your branch. Even you will have opportunities to apply for different position on basis of your Diploma. Where in class 12th, you will not be able to apply on vacancies available for Diploma course. Hence, choose wisely. Best of Luck.

Instead of government, I believe that you must try with privately or jointly run medical colleges. Though the privately run colleges have quite a high fee, starting from 4 lacs P.A (tuition fees) in a common scenario. Chances for government. The college chances look very slim for General and OBC category.
