1. Written Entrance Exam (NIFTEE)
•NIFT admission begins with the NIFT Entrance Exam, which includes:
•CAT (Creative Ability Test) – for design programs (e.g. B.Des)
•GAT (General Ability Test) – for all applicants (UG & PG)
•Situation Test – only for those applying to design programs like B.Des
2. Situation Test (for B.Des applicants)
•Candidates must perform a hands-on task that tests their ability to conceptualize and physically create items (e.g. using paper, clay).
•Performance is evaluated immediately by NIFT examiners, and contributes to final ranking.
Personal Interview (PI) / GDPI (for PG programmes and MFM)
•For postgraduate programs like MFM (Master of Fashion Management), the selection includes:
•GAT score (as part of written entrance)
•Followed by a Personal Interview (PI)
•Final merit list based on combined score of GAT + PI?
While GDPI (Group Discussion + Personal Interview) is not standard across all NIFT campuses, applicants report that some PG admissions include a GD or PI round after the GAT. The process is conducted online or offline depending on campus arrangements.
