You need to appear for IAS prelims. On qualifying prelims, you will be required to clear IAS mains. Then their is interview after which you will be given final letter.
1. the Preliminary Examination will consist of two papers of objective type (multiple-choice questions) carrying a maximum of 400 marks.
Civil Service Examination 2011, Preliminary Examination will have two papers- Paper I and Paper II:

2. The Main examination consists of the following papers:
• Paper IOne of the Indian Languages to be selected by the candidate from the 18 languages included in the VIIIth Schedule to the Constitution (Qualifying Paper) – 300 Marks
• Paper-IIEnglish (Qualifying Paper) – 300 Marks
• Paper-IIIEssay - 200 Marks
• Papers IV & VGeneral Studies (300 Marks for each paper) – 600 Marks
• Papers VI, VII, VIII & IXAny two subjects (each having 2 papers) to be selected from the prescribed 51 optional subjects (300 marks for each paper) – 1200 Marks
