MBA degree is awarded by an aporoved university. PGDM is awarded by B Schools which are not affiliated with any universities. Such Institutes have liberty to frame their own syllabus which nay be more aligned to industry. If such institute's PGDM is in AIU list then it is treated equal to MBA by Indian Universities for higher studies. Some of PGDM such as from IIMs are valued more in comparison to university awarded MBAs.
