Public sector banks recruit candidates at 2 levels the officer level and the clerical level. After XII (Commerce or any subject) Graduation followed by banking examination for Probationary officers can be taken.
Engineers, agricultural scientists, home economists, chemists, lawyers, language specialists can enter banking through the special category intake.
Foreign and Private banks recruit bright candidates from the parent organization on the basis of merit or campus selections are made at reputed management institutes. MBA/ Masters in Finance Control/ CA/ Certified Analysts course/ Business Economics/ Public Relations /Law are preferred qualifications for Multinational and Private Banks.
Reserve Bank Services Board conducts examinations for selecting personnel for all branches of the RBI . There are three points of entry into the RBI-the clerical cadres, Grade A officers and Grade B officers. RBI also recruits candidates for specialized departments. Department of Statistical Analysis and Computer Services recruits postgraduates in statistics, mathematical statistics, mathematical economics, and econometric. Department of Economic Analysis and Policy recruits research officers from postgraduates in Economics, Econometric and Commerce. The age group is 21- 30 years.
Public sector Banks select Probationary officers . Degree holders in the age group of 18-26 years have to clear a written test and interview. The PO has a 2 year training.
The RBI has set up the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai for Postgraduates in Management, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research to study for an M. Phil/ PhD program.
