If you do DNS then you will get 1 year's Diploma certificate after which you can pursue B.Sc in the same via distance mode. This degree will not be a regular degree. When you do DNS course you have two semesters of 6 month each. After the completion of these semesters, you have to join the ship as a Trainee Deck Cadet with a training period of 18 months which will include your 3rd, 4th and 5th semesters. Yes, this will definitely affect the rank. This can increase or decrease your ranks subjected to the correctness of your guess work. Now suppose you have attempted total 50 questions, in which 10 questions were attempted by using your guess work. Now let's see what will happened?
1. Case-1 : If 10 questions are wrong. Than your score will be 40*4-10=150
2. Case-2 : If 5 questions are correct than your score will be 40*4+5*4-5=175
3. Case-2 : If 2 questions are correct than your score will be 40*4+2*4-8=152
4. Case-4 : If you have not attempted any question by using guess work than score will be 40*4=160
