Yes the college is good for Journalism . The faculty at IFIM are interactive and always guide towards achieving your goal. IFIM is better. College prepares each and every student for real time work by facilitating through PEP program. Every universities are conducting their own entrance examinations for PhD courses. You can either appear for examination for which universities inviting application on the months of March-May. If you are selected, you can do research under a registered guide appointed by the university. You will eligible for Stipend during the research period.
Another option is Part Time External mode which is reserved for Teachers and employees of selected areas. In this mode, you can register for PhD , and have to find a guide, appointed by the university and you need to submit thesis and research report with in a period permitted by the university.

Dear friend for the rankings you can visit the websites of several rating agencies.
You will get a more clear idea about the status.
For me being a student of PU , I feel it as no. 1.

In India student passing 10+2 in science with more than or equal to 50% are eligible to sit for entrance tests(Physics+Chemistry+Biology) that are held at state and national level, after passing these tests candidate can apply for BUMS in the colleges that provide this particular education field and Urdu is compulsory till 10th grade. Selection depends upon your score and college's cut off score.

Both the course have their identity and demand you may choose according to your interest. In both field have different types of jobs and demands are in market. For instance you go for B.SC you can do B. Ed after and can find teaching job but if you want some challanging jobs you may go for B. Com also, it's totally up to you.
