Technical Writing is a strict but rewarding discipline. Technical Writer is professional writer who design, develop and maintain technical documentation such as user manual, online help, SRS, white papers, installation guide, release notes, training tutorials etc. by making these easily understandable. They are often called Technical Communicator, Data Development Engineer, Information Developers, Documentation Specialists, Documentation Engineers, API Writers or Technical Content Developers.
Anybody, having good flair of writing skills (accuracy in grammar, vocabulary, punctuation and sentence creation) and perfection in developing technical content, can be a Technical Writer.
A Technical Writer should have any technical background as well as Language skills. Anybody from English Literature or Language, Journalism, Creative Writing or a Science or Electronics background along with a computer Literacy or through knowledge or computer technology, can be a good Technical Writer.

The next step up could be a documentation manager handling multiple projects and teams. Technical Writers might also gain expertise in a specific technical domain and branch out into related forms, like software quality or business analysis.
