Mass Comm is a very demanding and challenging course and has a lot to offer like Journalism, advertising, PR etc.Few good colleges like IIMC, XIC, MICA etc. conduct their own entrance exams for admissions to similar courses. The basic requirement for admission is good English both written and verbal, minimum qualification required is +2 from a recognized board. The entrance would consist of few objective type questions on GK, reading comprehension, grammar, etc. At the end i would say that the entrance is not that difficult and you can clear it easily and the interview depends on your caliber.

Hi, I observed normally Universities and colleges are fine with 1 or 2 years of gap but more they will ask reasons for same. More proble is with visa office as having more gap, chances of getting refusal is higher. Certain Courses like MBA require 3 years of work experience for admission so visa office is fine with same. Best thing show what exactly you have done truthfully during gap to institute and visa office, it should be fine.
