Well, if you've heard for reliable sources like The Hindu or the Economic Times it is true. The salary at the top 3 IIMs are very high. Before I mention the salaries, let me start by saying that there are two types of placements :
The Summer Placements: These are internships and salary may range from a few Lacs to even 10,000 per month and is for a period of two to three months. This internship may turn into a full time job based on your performance. Final Placements: The type of job you get depends on your two years you spent at IIM, your grades, your extra-curriculars and internship. Your final placement salary may range from One Crore to 50,000 or so per month and it depends on the IIM you study in also. Here are the median and the highest salaries offered to students by companies last year (2015) at IIM-, IIM-B and IIM-C. IIIM-A:
the highest salary:1.38 crore and 70 Lacs as the highest international salary. Median Salary:average domestic salary would be about 18 Lacs. IIM-B:
the highest salary: the highest domestic salary was 53 Lacs whereas, the highest international salary was 73.38 Lacs. Median Salary:average domestic salary would be about 18-20 Lacs. IIM-C:
the highest salary: 33.7 Lacs was the highest salary in 2015. Median Salary:17-18 Lacs was the median salary last year.

Master in Business Administration (MBA) is two years degree course in the field of management. In India MBA degree can be awarded by any recognised university or by a Business School affiliated to any university. Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a two years diploma course offered by the institutes that are recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and which are autonomous and not affiliated to any university. It is not mandatory that a PGDM is equal to MBA. PGDM institutes accreditation by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) makes an institute's PGDM course equivalent to an MBA.
There are a large number of similarities between the curriculum of both MBA and PGDM. An MBA institute follows a fixed curriculum as it will be based on the university guidelines which occasionally may not be aligned to industry requirements. Autonomous institutes do not follow university standards, so it is have the flexibility to align its curriculum according to industry standards and change in the business environment. Some of the PGDM from IIMs, XLRI etc has more value then MBA. However, MBA of FMS DU, IIFT etc have similar value as IIMs. Students are advised to chose Institute based on its ranking not on nomenclature of degree.

There are many courses available to students after 12th standard. Courses like Engineering, MBBS are main stream, but I will also focus on slightly unknown and unique courses.
