Well there are plenty of things you can do after studying English Literature. Careers in publishing require people with backgrounds in English very often.
You can go into the fields of journalism, and translation; script/novel/play writing if you have a creative flair and an interest in writing.
You can also get jobs with as reporters with newspaper firms and media companies. Content development and ITES firms also recruit English graduates.
Apart from these job prospects, you can find career as campaign manager, speech writer and other positions that require the sophisticated use of written and spoken English.

If we are talking about salary and career scope then good salary depends on your knowledge and communication skills. .
Let me show you some points which will help you in taking decision further.
1. Database is a field in which you need any specialization degree for better career aspect Like ODBA etc.Its a field in which you must have knowledge of all language mixed and also have knowledge of latest technology trends and inventions.It is a field in which you must have to be active 24 hours a day like a doctor. It have very good job scope if you have good academic records or you manage to get job in any MNC. Starting salary package will be between 3 to 5 lakh you can get more if you deserve.
2.Programing is again a good field as mentioned getting success depends on individual talent.In this field you have to learn expertize in one language and have so many ways to move forward.You don't need any further degree but you must have sound knowledge and command in any language Because company's look for experts not all rounders. Here again salary package will be around 3 to 5 lakh or more if you perform good in interviews and have good academic record.
Advise => From my point of view choose programing it will give you good future scope and opportunity.
Remember we are talking about campus placements not individual job via interview where your salary depends on your performance and knowledge and percentage also no one can guess a salary for individual jobs because it vary company by company and and also depends on job post.
