Part IThe written examination will comprise two sections Section I consisting only of objective types of questions and Section II of conventional papers. Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines viz. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. The details of the written examination i.e. subject, duration and maximum marks allotted to each subject are given in table below.
Note: There will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.- Part IIPersonality test carrying a maximum of 200 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the basis of the written examination.

IAS is the premier services under the Civil Services of India and the admissions are based on qualifying an entrance conducted by the UPSC. The exam is conducted in two phases: Preliminary test (CSAT) and Main Written Test.
CSAT: It is an Objective type examination consisting of Two Papers that is common to all candidates from 2011 having special emphasis on testing their aptitude for civil services as well as on general knowledge.
Main Exam.: Those who qualify the CSAT exam are shortlisted for the Main exam. It is a descriptive (essay type) examination. The General Studies, Essay paper, English Paper are common to all candidates and with this a candidate has two optional subjects to choose from the given options and a language paper of his / her choice.
After qualifying the test, shortlisted candidates are called for the interviews and then the final selection takes place.
The minimum criteria is a graduate degree from a well known institutes and the age limit not crossing 30 years of age.

The difference between the Deemed University & a Regular University is that the University is an Institution which provides all kind undergraduate and postgraduate degrees approved by UGC and some Universities also get grants from UGC to run these programmes, whereas, Deemed University is a status of autonomy granted to high performing institutes in India. It is granted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India.
UGC Act provides that the Central government can declare any institution of higher education other than a university which is providing high standards of education in a specific area as a deemed university. These institutions can confer degrees, develop academic programs and enjoy the academic status and privileges of a university. Although they dont have to follow the UGC curriculum but they have to maintain the standards set by UGC.
