Lovely Professional University (LPU) enrolls students in the majority of its undergraduate and postgraduate courses on the basis of entrance tests, rather than cutoff marks. In the case of a majority of courses, including B.Tech, MBA, Law, etc., the university also organizes its own entrance and scholarship test known as LPUNEST, which is compulsory for admission as well as scholarship purposes. Apart from LPUNEST, LPU also accepts national-level entrance examinations scores such as JEE Main, NATA, CAT, MAT, XAT, CLAT, etc., based on the course.
But for some diploma and certain undergraduate courses, admission can be done directly on the basis of Class 10 or 12 marks (cutoff basis) without entering an entrance test. Overall, the majority of courses at LPU need an entrance test, but some permit admission only based on cutoff marks.
