GRE is a test which need to be taken by students who wish to pursue masters degree in science and engineering fields form universities abroad.
GRE scores are accepted by universities in US,Germany,Canada and many more countries.
There are two versions of GRE Test:
- GRE General Test.
- GRE Subject Test.
GRE General Test:
This test is open to all candidates, irrespective of their age or educational background.
GRE Subject test:
This version of GRE exam assesses candidates’ knowledge level and accomplishments in a specific field of study.
GRE scores of this test are often required for doctoral programmes in the US, though some universities require the GRE Subject test scores for Masters-level programmes too.
The eight subjects in which the GRE subject test is presently conducted are:
- Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology,
- Biology,
- Chemistry,
- Computer Science,
- English Literature,
- Mathematics,
- Physics, and
- Psychology.

* NITs do not offer lateral entry course. But, you may refer to the below list of colleges offering your desired course.

* Procedure :
- To take admission, you need to sit for Lateral Entry Entrance Test or LEET which is conducted at state level. Some colleges and Universities too conduct their own lateral entry tests.
- Eligibility for admission to lateral entry course is a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in the Diploma course.
You may directly contact the university officials as lateral entry criteria and admission procedure differs from one college to another.
* It would be highly advisable to complete 12th first as it is the basic requirement if you wish to pursue any advance course or apply for job in government or private sector in future.
