From my point of view, it is definitely a smart idea to look at the NIRF rankings before taking admission, especially if you are planning to pursue a professional course like engineering. NIRF rankings are given by the Government of India and they judge universities based on important factors like teaching quality, research work, placements, facilities, and student outcomes. So it gives you a fair and neutral view about the performance of a university.

Talking specifically about the NIRF 2021 rankings, Lovely Professional University (LPU) was ranked 66th among engineering institutions, which clearly shows its strength and consistent efforts in providing excellent education and placements in the engineering field. On the other hand, Chandigarh University (CU) was not ranked within the top 100 engineering institutes in the NIRF 2021 rankings. This tells me that when it comes to engineering, LPU had a much stronger and recognised standing compared to CU at that time.
