actually in canada the system is like below:
1) diploma for 2years after 12th
2) advanced diploma for 3 years after 12th
3) BEng for 4-5 years after 12th
please note that if you are looking forward to work in canada then you should go for advanced diploma.

It is asvisable NOT to leave your job for UPSC exam. As a person with work experience you need to use your logic skills plus the knowledge to clear the prelims.
