Hi,
There are several technical as well as non-technical characteristics that you should have to be a successful interior designer.
Technically, you need to be able to: Design and read blueprints, Perform Environmental Analysis, knowledge of areas like Environmental Lighting, basic plumbing & pipe etc.
Moving on to the more characteristic qualities, you'll need to be creative (You have to be unique in what you offer your clients), Able to do multi-tasking, friendly, (Interior designer's job involves convincing people that you are the best to design their space & a friendly, outgoing attitude will be of help) and last but not least having a good business sense A successful interior designer will have to estimate and put a value to his work through extensive calculations so, you need to have good negotiation, marketing skills
