There are many good universities in US, which offers various engineering courses at undergraduate and graduate level.
In order to pursue Undergraduate course in US, you need to have:
12 years of education, with good academic record preferably 60% plus in 12th.
Relevant 12th degree from recognized education board.
TOEFL score of 80-90 plus.
SAT score of 1700-1800 plus.
In order to pursue Masters course in US, you need to have:
16 years of education, with good academic record preferably 60% plus in graduation.
Relevant undergraduate degree from recognized university.
TOEFL score of 80-90 plus.
GRE score of 1100-1200 plus.
Universities in US have 2 admission intakes:
Fall (August) intake.
Spring (January) Intake.

Nibu, Gomti this side. doing masters through distance learning WILL NOT be a hurdle in becoming a lecturer. Here there are two things that one must consider. 1) Are you planning to write the recruitment test for Lecturers conducted by Govt of Kerala for teaching in Junior colleges? If so, you have to watch very carefully for the notification and apply for the same. If you clear the written test, then there will be an interview and depending upon the availability of vacancies you will be posted. If you are planning to teach in private colleges , then , you can very well do that with your PG degree. But if you want to teach at a higher level both in govt and private sector and want to get the scales prescribed by UGC you must clear the National Eligibility Test-NET. By clearing NET you can teach in a degree college and can do your doctorate too. UGC provides fellowships for candidates who have qualified NET whose age is below 30 years.
