Both the courses have their own advantages. Microbiology is a specific and narrow field whereas Biotechnology is a vast interdisciplinary course covering various areas of applied Science including Cell biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Plant biology, Animal cell culture, Stem cell technology, Bioinformatics etc. Microbiology can be considered as part or sub section of Biotechnology. Moreover, there are more job opportunities for Biotechnology graduates in biotech and pharmaceutical sector as compared to Microbiology which are very limited as subject area is very limited. LPU students have also availed opportunities of placements in government services like the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Transport Corporation of India, etc. Through on-campus/off-campus placement drives and SSB Interviews. Most of the companies have made us the regional hubs for joint campuses. The curriculum incorporates specific courses (subjects) under the notion of Professional Enhancement Programmes (PEP) in which the students are prepared to crack the placement processes. If we talk about placements for CSE, they are exceptionally good.
