Hi,
BIT, Mesra is regularly ranked within the top 15 engineering colleges in India. One of my friends' experience of this college:
Faculty -
It is certainly not the best in the country, not even close. Some of the older professors are good but almost zero focused on research, means they are very outdated in terms of knowledge.
Academic load -
It borders between zilch and extremely light. It also varies between departments though. Electrical and electronics was pretty well taught and rigorous, whereas computer science was a stroll in a park. Electrical department has some very strict professors. First of all I want to inform you that at present engineering courses in distance learning mode are not allowed and are not approved by AICTE and UGC. Now, the institute which you have mentioned in your question I afraid is recognised by UGC and AICTE. Please go for a regular engineering course from a recognised institute.
