Transcripts and Letter of recommendation are one of the import documents which are required by the universities in US, to determine the admission in their universities.
Transcripts are nothing but the compiled mark sheet of your graduation on 'ONE' single sheet, the transcripts should be 'SIGNED' and 'ATTESTED' by the registrar of the university and it should be in the 'SEALED' envelope.
Even tough you might have mark sheet for every semester or year, but you need to get transcripts.
The difference between transcripts and mark sheet is that; transcripts are compiled mark sheet for all the years on a single sheet, whereas you get separate mark sheet for every year or semester.
Letter of recommendation are nothing, but a recommendation letter from your faculty who knows you, letter of recommendation are required to be taken on the letter head of your college or university and it should be signed by the faculty member who is recommending you.
In case you are a working professional, then you need to get one LOR form you manager or your supervisor as well.

Well I would say if you desire to go ahead for career in Investment Banking, you need to make efforts and at the same time keep a little patience as there lies a step by step process to achieve something great. As per your query, I would suggest you to work hard on your education since you are from a completely different field.

Hi Alok, investment bankers are the highest paid amongst all bankers and even amongst the finance world. Investment banks want employees with a combination of strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
A typical job of an equities analyst requires both analytic and interpersonal skills.The industry picks up only MBA's from the top institutes such as IIM's, FMS, XLRI etc.
Investment banking is a high work, high risk, high reward profession. At this level it is also important to have a good understanding of market trends, the political and macro-economic environment and deal mechanics.
