In order to solve your query I would like to inform you that Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and Seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
M.Tech aspirants can apply for GATE exam as it is an all India test. The test is administered by top technology institutes.
To prepare for the exam your preparation requires the right approach along with the right study materials and strategy. Routinize your day effectively. The preparation requires focused study rather than plain hard work. You need to know what sections the test paper consists of. Know your strengths, work on your weaknesses on start working on it. The Placements packages are always decided on the performance of the students only, well, I am here sharing the packages recently which were offered to my senior batch,
Travel and Tourism : Minimum = 15,000 in hand per month + accommodation + travel allowance + other incentives. maximum = 25,000 in hand per month + travel allowance + other incentives.
International Business : Minimum = 25,000 in hand per month + travel allowance + incentives. maximum = 30,000 in hand per month + travel allowance + incentives. and As per communicated by IITTM management , previous batch(2013-2015) highest package of "International business" was 13 lacs /annual, and Travel and Tourism highest was 8 lacs/annual.

Rohan, don't go with which stream is better. Go with what you want do after studying B.Tech. You may take following considerations. If you like computer, want to build crazy application or something related to software go with Computer Science engineering. If you like playing with machines/motors or electricity go ahead with Mechanical engineering. Or Electrical engineering. If you are India, after studying Electronics and communication engineering most of the students gets job/work in IT companies. Only few percent gets chance in electronics companies. So I would suggest, better to study Computer Science engineering. If you want to sail through vast sea go with Marine engineering. If you have not decided what you want to do after B.Tech, sit for one or two days and decided what you want to do. If still confused, select any of the engineering mentioned in point # 1, 2 and 3 (Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronics). Best of luck.
