Courses in bio technology are offered mainly in two formats, eligibility of which are different from each other:
1) B.Sc.
2) B.Tech
B.Sc. In Biotechnology: Admission Process:
For admission to the course, eligible candidates are needed to qualify a relevant entrance examination, conducted at any of institute, state and national levels. Two subsequent rounds of group discussion and personal interview subsequently follow for assessment of candidates general aptitude for the course. DU (University of Delhi) Biotechnology Entrance Examination. However, some colleges also admit students based on their performance in the last qualifying examination. Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Biotechnology):
The admissions to B.Tech Biotechnology is done either through a Common Entrance Test (CET) or merit based direct admission. Merit list is based on the marks obtained in 10+2. The application form for entrance exam is available from the month of February to March. The general process is tabulated below:

Selection is mostly based on the performance in the entrance test conducted by various institutes. Some weightage is also accorded to performance in 10+2 examination. Shortlisted candidates are further called for counselling after which they are offered admission to the institutes. Regards.

To get admission in Bachelor of Business Management, the candidate has to clear an Entrance Test conducted by different colleges and universities. UGAT is a competitive exam through which also students can seek admission in BBM course. It is conducted once in a year and students who have completed or about to complete their 10+ 2 can apply for the exam. Students can opt for either Paper Based Test or Computer Based Test for this exam. UGAT is conducted for other courses like BBA as well. Students who clear the entrance test with a valid score are then required to clear the group discussion and personal interview tests. The scores of the HSC and SSC are considered for IIM-Bangalore and few others. But IIM-Ahmedabad, Calcutta, etc., give the admission on the basis of the CAT score. As you know there is some reservations on the basis of the caste and for the general category, the cut-off is above 98 percentile to receive a call followed by the OBC, a decrease in 25-26 percentile and the SC and ST have a very low cut-off. A minimum CAT percentile is required to be shortlisted for further rounds of selection. IIMs and non-IIM colleges release their separate category-wise cut-offs. Candidates must both clear sectional & overall cut-off to be deemed eligible.
It is expected that the difficulty level of CAT 2018 will be low, while the cut-off will be high, CAT 2018 exam date is out and it will be held on November 25, 2018. Candidates who qualify the admission criteria will be called for the next round of selection process WAT and GD/PI rounds. Generally, a candidate with 99+ percentile gets a call from the top IIMs. Latest: CAT 2018 application form will be available from August 2018.
